By Friday, the cabinet must nominate the candidates for EU commissioner from Bulgaria.
Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev held talks with Ekaterina Zaharieva, Iskra Mihailova and Velislava Petrova, who are currently the officially proposed nominations for European Commissioner by the GERB-UDF, The Movement for Rights and Freedoms and "There is Such People" political party (ITN) parliamentary groups.
The meetings took place in connection with the process of forming a new composition of the European Commission and the deadline expiring on August 30, 2024, in which the official cabinet should nominate the candidates for European Commissioner from the Republic of Bulgaria.
Prime Minister Glavchev met with Ekaterina Zaharieva and Iskra Mihailova in the building of the Council of Ministers. The conversation with Velislava Petrova took place via video conference.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Glavchev sent a letter to all parliamentary groups in the 50th National Assembly, in which he called on them to take a stand on the question of who should be the two candidates for Bulgarian European Commissioner in the next European Commission. Given the expiring deadline for reaction, the Prime Minister expects the nominations by tomorrow - August 29.
