The Speaker of the National Assembly, Rosen Zhelyazkov, convenes an extraordinary session of the Parliament on April 9 at 9:00 a.m.
The order is based on Art. 78, item 1 of the Constitution.
Only one item is included in the agenda - swearing in of the members of the official Council of Ministers appointed by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria.
BGNES reminds that on Friday Dimitar Glavchev presented his draft cabinet, whose composition created a new wave of political tensions in Bulgaria due to the current head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Kalin Stoyanov being on the list of ministers. The We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (WCC-DB) defined his stay in the office as "impudence" and declared that they would expel Georgi Gvozdeikov from the WCC if he remained in the government. Glavchev determined his choice for the nomination to be Kalin Stoyanov as the most difficult, but he was adamant that no one would convince him to make changes to his nominations.
At an extraordinary briefing in the Council of Ministers, the resigned Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov announced that Chief Secretary of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior Zhivko Kotsev submitted the request to leave under pressure both from Kalin Stoyanov and from many high-ranking persons in the prosecutor's office. Kotsev stated that he withdrew his submitted resignation because it was provoked and submitted under enormous psychological and moral pressure.
The co-chairman of WCC-DB Kiril Petkov expressed his conviction that the cabinet proposed by Glavchev was ordered by Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski. And the deputy chairman of GERB, Tomislav Donchev, defined the composition as "a good attempt to seek political neutrality and professionalism."
Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) declared their support for the project cabinet.
Over the weekend, retired Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov appealed to Glavchev to think again about Kalin Stoyanov. The WCC asked the president not to sign the decree for the appointment of a ministerial cabinet.
