By the end of January, a decision of the European Commission is expected whether to approve the financing of the preliminary design studies of a second bridge over the Danube between Ruse and Giurgievo. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Dimitar Nedyalkov.
According to the minister, the Romanian side is actively working on its construction, as it is essential for improving transport connectivity in the north-south direction, which places it among the important projects not only for Bulgaria and Romania, but also for the whole of Europe.
According to him, the Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo highway is the most important project under the "Transport Connectivity" program 2021-2027.
After the implementation of these projects, Ruse will be positioned in a completely new way on the transport map of Bulgaria. According to the deputy minister, Northern Bulgaria has lagged behind in terms of investments from European funds for years. He expects this trend to change already in this program period and the balance in the economic development of the regions to be restored. /BGNES
