The election day started calmly, 19 cities elect a new mayor

The second round of local elections has officially started, in which we have to elect 91 mayors of municipalities, 451 of serfdoms and 31 of districts. Electoral Sections opened everywhere at 7:00 a.m. 19 regional cities failed to elect their mayor in the first round. There will be runoffs in the three largest cities in the country - Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna.

The election day in the entire country started normally as there were voters who voted already in the early hours of the day, some of them choosing to exercise their right to vote with a machine, and others with a paper ballot, reported a BGNES reporter.

Sofia

The second round of the local elections in the capital started on time, after which it will become clear who will be the new mayor. Sections in the capital's 127th secondary school "Ivan Denkoglu" opened their doors at 7:00 in the morning in anticipation of voters. The members of the SIKs in the school started to gather at 6:30 in the morning and opened the section exactly at 7:00. Already in the early hours of today, the first voters who chose to vote by machine came to the ballot boxes.

Blagoevgrad

The runoff for Mayor of Blagoevgrad started normally, the sections in "Treto" Middle School opened at 7 am. this morning. The previous mayor Ilko Stoyanov, nominated by the initiative committee and supported by GERB-SDS, and the "We Continue the Chane - Democratic Bulgaria" candidate Metodi Baikushev are running for the runoff. Runoffs are being held today in three more municipalities from the Blagoevgrad district: in Razlog, Sandanski and Petrich.

Plovdiv

The election day started peacefully in Plovdiv. GERB's candidate Kostadin Dimitrov and Ivaylo Staribratov of "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" are competing for the post of mayor in the second round. There are also runoffs in the six districts of the city.

Kazanlak

Election day in Kazanlak started normally. 79,376 are the voters in the municipality. Along with the city of roses, the residents of the villages of Koprinka, Buzovgrad, Ovoschnik and Sheinovo, as well as the town of Kran, will cast their votes. 91 are the voting sections. After the decision of the Supreme Administrative Court and the return of the voting machines, 86 such devices have been placed in the election sections.

Varna

The second round of local elections has started in Varna, there are 409 voting sections. This time, 397 of the sections will be able to vote with machines. So far, only one machine has failed.

Stara Zagora

The election day in Stara Zagora started in a calm atmosphere. All necessary measures have been taken for the protection of public order, fire safety and ensuring a peaceful election day. Employees of the District Directorate of the Ministry of Interior -Stara Zagora took over the security of 156 voting sections on the territory of the district.

Silistra

Elections for mayors are being held today in three municipal centres in the Silistra region - these are Dulovo, Tutrakan and Silistra. There will be elections in another 17 settlements in five of the seven municipalities of the region.

Nessebar

In Nessebar, election day began without problems in all sections of the municipality's territory. About 21,000 voters have the right to vote. Voting will take place in 37 voting sections, one of which is mobile. 

Ruse

Election day in Ruse district has started everywhere. Its end is announced for 20.00 hours, but exceptionally where there are people waiting to vote, it can be extended by another hour, ie. until 9:00 p.m. For the moment, there are no signals of violations anywhere in the region and all 257 sections opened on time. The organization of the sectional committees is very good and there is no delay in the voting process. Voting is fast, with almost no waiting required. Where there was a need, all changes in the composition of the sectional election commissions were on time.

Vratsa

81 Sectional Election Commissions have started work in Vratsa district. In Mezdra, the runoff for the election of a municipal serf and for mayors in small settlements has begun.

Pazardzhik

The election day in Pazardzhik district started calmly. A runoff for mayors will be held in four municipalities in the Pazardzhik district. Voting will take place in 60 settlements, and in 19 of them, a mayor will be elected. The sectional commissions in which the second round will be held in the district are 218.

Sliven

The second round of local elections in Sliven started normally. All 188 sections opened at exactly 7:00 am. In 162 sections it is possible to vote with machines. In Sliven, they elect a municipal mayor. There are runoffs in 6 settlements. There are 99,027 voters in the municipality.

Kyustendil

Heated runoffs are being held today in 5 municipalities of Kyustendil region - Kyustendil, Dupnica, Sapareva Banya, Kocherinovo and Boboshevo. In Kyustendil there is no change in the number of sections - 114, including three mobile. It will be possible to vote with machines in 76 of them. /BGNES
