The Dismantling of the Monument to the Soviet Army in Sofia Continues

The governor of the Sofia district, Vyara Todeva, took action to remove the compromised facing plates with the inscription from the Monument to the Soviet Army (MSA).

Conservation actions on the pedestal of the monument in the Prince's Garden began at 11:30 a.m. today, the regional administration also informed.

On April 9, the Supreme Administrative Court annulled the suspension of the dismantling of the monument.

BGNES reminds that ten days ago, Vyara Todeva demanded that the necessary funds be provided for the restoration and conservation of the figures and bas-reliefs from the "Monument to the Soviet Army" monument with a letter to acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev. She also submitted a conceptual project to the Ministry of Culture for the placement of the figures and bas-reliefs from the MSA in the Museum of Socialist Art. /BGNES
