The Chief Secretary of the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Zhivko Kotsev, has resigned

The application for dismissal is of Kotsev's own will, the Bulgarian Ministry of Internal Affairs informed on Thursday morning.

BGNES reminds that Kotsev was appointed as the chief secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on September 8, 2023, by the Bulgarian President Rumen Radev at the proposal of the "Denkov" cabinet. He succeeded Petar Todorov in the position.

Zhivko Kotsev joined the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 1991 as a police officer in the Internal Security Service. He worked as an inspector in the "Crimes against the person and robberies" sector, head of the "Robberies" sector, head of the Fourth Metropolitan Police Station, director of the District Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs -Veliko Tarnovo, deputy director of the Metropolitan Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
