The Central Election Commission (CEC) voted to drop machine voting on Sunday’s local elections in Bulgaria

The CEC voted to drop the voting by machines, but it is not yet clear whether this decision will remain final, reported BGNES.

The member of the CEC, Emil Voinov, suggested that in the elections on Sunday, as well as in the runoff next week, voting should be done only with paper ballots.

The CEC received a letter from the Minister of e-Government. It states that the certification process for the voting devices has not yet been completed. This is a key requirement in the Electoral Code.

12 of the CEC members voted to drop the possibility of voting with machines. But it is not yet clear whether this decision will remain final. /BGNES
