"We discussed with the US side and the Air Force at a high level how the Lockheed funds could be used as effectively as possible with a serious business perspective." This is what the Minister of War Todor Tagarev said in response to a question by BGNES on how far the process of acquiring the second batch of F-16 aircraft has reached.
The 44th National Assembly of Bulgaria adopted the framework agreement with Lockheed Martin Global INC on the acquisition of the second batch of F-16 aircraft.
Tagarev clarified that the company should not be relied upon to expect relatively small future orders from the Bulgarian army. "This discussion should be done in an international format and the proposal was very well received," Tagarev said.
Tagarev explained that the Ministry of Economy and Industry is responsible for developing the concept of industrial cooperation, while the military ministry is responsible for one project, and that is the project on investment in the training of engineering personnel. "It is being implemented and very successfully," the military minister stressed. /BGNES
