Start of the local elections in the country, queues formed in some places

Election day across the country started off normally. All sections opened at 7:00 a.m., and in a large part of them voters went to cast their votes in the early hours of the day, BGNES correspondents reported.

Sofia

The local elections have officially started, in which we elect mayors and municipal councilors, and in places like the capital, we will also elect a mayor of a region and a mayor of a town hall. Sections at the 127th Ivan Denkoglu Secondary School opened at 7:00 a.m. in anticipation of voters. The members of the SECs in the school started to gather as early as 6:30 in the morning and opened the section at 7:00 sharp. Minutes after 7:00, voters began to arrive. There are police officers on site who will monitor the peaceful progress of the election day. In today's elections, voters will only vote with paper ballots. This happened after a decision of the CEC two days before the elections as a result of a report by the National Security Agency. 58 parties and 9 coalitions will participate in the vote today. This time, the participants in the local elections are fewer compared to 2019, when Bulgarians could choose between 59 parties and 7 coalitions. A little over 6 million and 48 thousand are the voters included in the preliminary lists for the local elections.

Plovdiv

The election day in Plovdiv started normally. There are nearly 290,000 voters in Plovdiv, according to the lists. They vote for mayor, mayors of the 6 districts and for municipal councilors. There are 472 electoral divisions. Of these, 9 are in medical facilities and places of deprivation of liberty, and 4 are designated for people with permanent disabilities.

Burgas

The election day in Burgas starts normally. All 340 polling stations opened at 7 a.m.

Stara Zagora

Election day started normally in Stara Zagora and the region. Haskovo

Tsarevo

Election day has also started in Tsarevo municipality. There are four candidates who are fighting for the mayoral seat. There are 13 mandates in the local parliament, and 50 candidates for them, which means that an average of four people are fighting for one place in the municipal council.

Vratsa

The election day started normally in the municipality of Vratsa. There are 320 candidates for municipal councilors. There are 9 contenders for mayor of the municipality, and 68 candidates have applied for leaders in a total of 20 small settlements.

Kurdzhali

Pazardzhik

Voting in Pazardzhik started calmly and not particularly actively. There are several ballots in the ballot box in "Iztok" district, voting is ongoing, but there is not much interest. In Pazardzhik, there are 12 candidates for the mayoral seat. 23 parties and coalitions are competing for seats in the local parliament. Over 116,000 people have the right to vote in Pazardzhik.

Ruse

The election day in the Ruse region has started everywhere. Its end is announced at 20.00, but exceptionally where there are people waiting to vote, it can be extended by another hour, i.e. to 9 p.m. There are currently no reports of violations anywhere in the region and all 339 sections opened on time. The organization of the sectional committees is very good and there is no delay in the voting process. Voting is going fast. Queues formed in some places, but the wait is within no more than 15 minutes. In some of the municipalities in Ruse, it was necessary to change members of sectional election commissions, but the changes were carried out in a timely manner.

Montana

Election Day in Montana got off to a quiet start, with over 118,000 voters, down 3,500 from the 2019 local elections.

Blagoevgrad

Election day in the Blagoevgrad region began in a calm atmosphere, there are 12 candidates for mayor of the regional city. So far, there are no reports of events that would threaten the normal conduct of the elections. 551 employees of ODMVR-Sliven and RDPBZN-Sliven are directly involved in the electoral process in the district.

Veliko Tarnovo

The elections in the municipality of Veliko Tarnovo started peacefully. There are eight candidates for mayor. Over 300 are candidates for municipal councilors.

Yambol
