This year the theme is "Vasil Levski, Bulgarian emigration and the liberation of Bulgaria". The organisers of the two-day forum are the national museums "Vasil Levski" and "Hristo Botev", as well as the "Vasil Levski" Foundation.
"The conference is a continuation of a cycle of several years in which we have tried to present new documents, interpretations and research by specialists from museums, libraries and archives, as well as academics. This year's topic is quite broad, it is related not only to Vasil Levski, but also to the overall emigration during the Bulgarian Revival," Dora Chausheva, director of the National Museum "Vasil Levski".
Among the participants we also have young scholars, including a colleague from Turkey, who for the second time participated in our forum - Dr. Cengiz Yolju from Istanbul. Last year he presented interesting materials related to Vasil Levski, found in the Turkish archives. Now he has turned his gaze to Hristo Botev, his troops and the traces of these events in the archives.
Scientists from the Burgas archives participated with a report on an interesting personality - Ivan Tsankov, a revolutionary activist of the Renaissance and builder of free Bulgaria. This direction is also important for us - how the circle of activists, followers of Vasil Levski after the Liberation, was realized in the construction of the free Bulgarian state. Two colleagues from Rousse will present materials about the "crowned lion" on the flag of the Botev's Cheka, about the Bulgarian school in Bucharest and about Botev's daughter - Ivanka Boteva", noted Dora Chausheva.
