Scandal over property deals in Bulgaria's ruling party We Continue the Change

A scandal has unfolded in the Bulgarian ruling party We Continue the Change over alleged illegal property deals made by MP Daniel Lorer, BGNES reported.

Finance Minister Asen Vasilev's name was also involved in the scandal.

Lorer said that he bought and sold all his properties at market prices and that he paid all his taxes on time.

His comments came after a number of publications in the Bulgarian media, from which it is clear that he sold a property in the capital Sofia on Chataldzha street № 3, where the headquarters of the party We Continue the Change is located, for an extremely high price of more than 1.8 million leva.

The scandal also involved the figure of Finance Minister Asen Vasilev. According to media reports, an American citizen requested the seizure of his properties in the same building because of a sum of more than BGN 5 million owed, but before the measure was imposed these properties were sold.

Regarding the scandal, Lorer wrote in the social network that he sold his real estate in 2023 at market prices. He emphasized that the price he paid for it was high because it was located in the city center and was fully furnished.

"Everything has been declared and accordingly all taxes due are being paid on time. Because of the short period of possession, I have to pay full income tax this year," said Lorer.

The MP from We Continue the Change is convinced that the inspections of the institutions will show that this is an unfair attack. "I will fully cooperate with them, after which I will take appropriate action against those who have offended my name," promised Lorer. /BGNES
