The president is in France for the Summer Olympics, from where he commented on the explosions that shook Elaine Pelin on Thursday night, the upcoming decision of the Constitutional Court and the third mandate.
I expect a quick investigation of the case and establishment of the causes of the explosions in Elin Pelin. President Rumen Radev said this to Bulgarian journalists in Paris.
The head of state expressed his condolences to the relatives of the person who died in the explosions in the fireworks warehouses, Assoc. Peter Shishkov, assistant in the Department of "Underground Construction" at the University of Mining and Geology.
"Safety measures must always be followed when handling hazardous materials. I urge everyone to follow all rules, regulations and safety measures," said Radev.
Regarding the handing over of the third exploratory mandate, President Radev reminded again that he has a seven-day period to hand it over to a party of his choice.
"I hope the political parties will use this last chance," added the head of state.
Regarding today's expected decision of the Constitutional Court on the changes to the basic law, the president commented: "I appealed to the Constitutional Court with clear reasons and I expect its decision to contribute to an independent judicial system, to effective justice and fairness and effective governance of the state."
Radev, who is in the French capital for the opening of the Olympic Games, said that unfortunately, Paris welcomes the Games in a global situation of acute conflicts and opposition.
But as Thomas Bach said, right now games are the only thing that can unite the world, Radev added.
In conclusion, he pointed out: "I believe that our athletes will show high sportsmanship and we will see the Bulgarian flag unfurled over Paris". | BGNES
