This was decided today by the Court of Appeal of Sofia.
Detainee Rumen Gaitanski-Valka (Bulgarian nickname meaning "The Wolf" - editor's note), who is appealing the most severe remand order imposed on him a week ago by the Sofia City Court, remains permanently in custody.
This is what the Court of Appeal of Sofia decided today, NTV quotes the final decision of the magistrates.
The court motivated its decision with the danger that Gaitanski would run away if he were free. Final arrest is required because of the gravity of the crime he is accused of.
BGNES reminds that the businessman surrendered to the authorities on August 16, voluntarily, after being accused of embezzlement on a particularly large scale, which was a serious case together with the former executive director of the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) Stoyan Mavrodiev. The third, who is being investigated for embezzlement of an unsecured loan worth nearly BGN 150 million, is lawyer Ivan Georgiev. He was released on bail of BGN 50,000.
On Thursday, Stoyan Mavrodiev was declared by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to be nationally wanted at the request of the Anti-Corruption Commission. | BGNES
