Rumen Gaitanski surrendered voluntarily and was detained for 72 hours

Rumen Gaitanski, nicknamed the Wolf, was detained for 72 hours after he voluntarily surrendered with his lawyer this afternoon, BGNES has learned.

He is being investigated for misappropriation of an unsecured loan for BGN 150 million together with the former executive director of the Bulgarian Development Bank Stoyan Mavrodiev and lawyer Ivan Georgiev.

The only person detained in the "Bulgarian Development Bank" case - lawyer Ivan Georgiev - was released earlier today on bail of BGN 50,000.

Mavrodiev is still being sought.

The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office will ask that Rumen Gaitanski remain in custody permanently, and the hearing on his remand should be on Monday in the Sofia City Court. During the meeting, it will be assessed whether there is a danger that he will abscond while the investigation is ongoing, as well as whether there is sufficient evidence to support the thesis of the state prosecution that, as an accomplice of Mavrodiev, he embezzled the fictitiously secured credit given by BBR in the amount of almost BGN 150 million.

According to the investigation, part of this money was used to buy luxury cars, and BGN 30 million from the loan was transferred to a company related to Gaitanski, with which TPP-Varna's debts to "Commercial Bank" were repaid. CHP-Varna is contacting the honorary chairman of DPS Ahmed Dogan. I BGNES
