Raya Nazaryan: Voter turnout is the key to the political crisis

"Happy holiday to all Bulgarians, be proud and dignified that Bulgaria is an ancient nation, which with great efforts has won step by step its full sovereignty. Liberated and united, Bulgaria does not stop until it firmly declares its independence and opens its way to the family of the civilized world."

This is what National Assembly of Bulgaria Speaker Raya Nazaryan said.

"Independence is to be able to declare your interests and to defend them, but when you declare them to look for coincidence with those of others and to defend them for yourself, but also for others. I believe that Bulgaria, as a worthy country in the European Union, defends its interests, but also those of the family it belongs to," Nazaryan added.

She called on politicians to show that they can be united and restore public trust, and on people to vote.

"We have the wonderful opportunity to run the campaign itself in a completely different way, with a different dialogue, with clear priorities, and before the elections we should be ready to tell the public what we will do next. Turnout is the key to getting out of the crisis. It is the key to creating a stable government and calming the political scene. If they don't come out to vote, the parliament will be even more fragmented, the more fragmented it is, the more impossible it is to form a coalition and a future government of the country," the National Assembly speaker said.

She said although this parliament elected a regular government, a lot of efforts have been made to find common ground and understanding between the different formations.

"After I became the Speaker of my Assembly, I stepped back from my political power and looked absolutely equal to all and respected every legislative initiative for the benefit of the people. We are there for the community and I tried to keep a balance between everyone, reminding them that language and words are a mirror out to the world," added Raya Nazarian. I BGNES
