On the second day of the life of the 50th National Assembly, Raya Nazaryan from GERB-UDF (GERB-Union of Democratic Forces) headed the institution and its deputies were elected from each of the seven parties represented in parliament, BGNES reported.
With the votes of GERB-UDF, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) and ITN (There is Such People political party) - 131 votes "for" Raya Nazaryan was elected as the chairman. The election was successful on the third attempt due to the support of ITN.
"We thank the colleagues from ITN for taking on all the liabilities and everyone worked on them," GERB leader Boyko Borisov told journalists after the vote. "I would not return any gesture to anyone, because such was not requested. We have a first mandate, which voters with a margin of over 11% want from GERB", recalled Boyko Borisov and added: "I expected the gesture from We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (WCC-DB - editor's note)".
"Today's vote gives an opportunity for the normal development of political processes and the effective functioning of state power", declared the newly elected President Nazaryan and continued: "Regardless of our political differences, we are responsible for public debates. I believe that we will all stick to this principle".
Nazaryan assured her colleagues in the parliament that they can count on her for dialogue, responsibility, compliance with the Constitution and the rules for the activities of the National Assembly.
After that, the work of the National Assembly continued with the election of seven vice-chairmen, one from each party represented in the parliament. They were voted en bloc.
