I have always invited the presidents of North Macedonia to come to Bulgaria because their road to Brussels passes through Sofia. I hope that the politicians there have realised that the election campaign is over and if their destructive talk and behaviour turns into real action, it means pushing their country towards isolation.
This is what President Rumen Radev told journalists in Burgas, BGNES reported.
The Head of State expressed his expectation that a politician who will represent Bulgaria in the European Council will defend the Bulgarian national interest.
I expect them to understand that Bulgaria, Greece and the EU tell them that international treaties must be respected. The negotiating framework must be implemented, Rumen Radev also said.
He recalled that the issue between Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia is not bilateral, it is European.
The President stressed that North Macedonia is a candidate country and cannot revise international treaties. This rebrands it as a country that does not respect international law, the Head of State noted. /BGNES
