"On the occasion of the concluded election campaign in the Republic of North Macedonia and the inauguration ceremony of the new president of the country, I would like to state that the Republic of Bulgaria does not accept statements and behaviour that contradict both the 2017 Treaty on Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation and other international treaties that North Macedonia has signed."
This is what Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said in a statement.
"Bulgaria has repeatedly and clearly stated its position that the treaties must be implemented.
I would also like to remind that North Macedonia is a NATO member state, which implies the respective obligations and responsibilities.
I am convinced that North Macedonia's European perspective depends on the strict implementation of the international treaties to which it is a party, as well as on the European Council's approval in July 2022. For the information of the responsible institutions in North Macedonia, this will not be revised," the President reminded. /BGNES
