Radev: Implementation of international treaties is mandatory and the president of North Macedonia is very well aware of it

"Silyanovska, as a good lawyer, is very clearly aware that commitments made under international treaties have to be implemented."

This is what President Rumen Radev said, BGNES reported. Radev refuted the claim of Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova that during their meeting in Baku he had not commented on the so-called constitutional changes with delayed action, as well as the fake scandal with the absence of the Macedonian flag.

"I have expressed a very clear assessment and I have once again acquainted Mrs Siljanovska in more detail with the negotiating framework and the common European consensus of June 2022, adopted and with the consent of the government of North Macedonia at that time. I have also acquainted her with our Treaty of Friendship, Neighbourhood and Cooperation and, very importantly, with the second protocol to this treaty. These are international commitments, and Mrs Siljanovska, as a good lawyer, is very clearly aware that international treaty commitments simply have to be honoured. Once again, I have stated our readiness to help so that the conditions set out in these international documents can be achieved more quickly so that the door can be opened for negotiations (between North Macedonia and the EU) to begin," Radev added.

BGNES recalls that the inclusion of Bulgarians in the constitution of North Macedonia is a mandatory condition for the start of the negotiations between Skopje and the EU. Mitkoski's government claims that the constitutional changes will be approved only when the Bulgarian parliament ratifies the agreement on the RSM's accession to the EU. | BGNES
