The name of the next Bulgarian European Commissioner is not yet clear, Politico reported. The publication added that it is already known who will be the representatives of 24 of the EU countries in the new composition of the European Commission (EC).
On August 28, Bulgarian Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev held talks with Ekaterina Zaharieva, Iskra Mihailova and Velislava Petrova, who are currently the officially proposed nominations for European Commissioner by the GERB-SDS, DPS and ITN parliamentary groups.
The government press service informs that Dimitar Glavchev is ready to meet with nominated candidates from the other parliamentary groups, who have not yet made proposals.
Earlier on August 28, the Bulgarian media reported that the department for which the next Bulgarian European Commissioner will be responsible is regional policy.
The Cabinet must nominate two candidates (preferably a man and a woman) for European Commissioner from the Republic of Bulgaria by 30.08.2024.
After the President of the EC, Ursula von der Leyen, has chosen one of the candidates from each country, she must propose to the Council of the EU the new composition of the EC. | BGNES
