PM Denkov: Bulgaria is trying to renegotiate the unfavourable conditions of the 13-year gas agreement with Turkey’s Botas

Bulgaria has not yet received a comment from the European Commission in connection with the investigation of the agreement that the Bulgarian caretaker government concluded with the Turkish gas company Botash, Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov said, adding that Bulgaria was asked to provide documents in the course of the investigation of whether there is a violation of European rules.
At the moment, negotiations are underway between the Bulgarian "Bulgargaz" and the Turkish "Botas" to renegotiate the clauses of the agreement, Prime Minister Denkov also said. "For Bulgaria, this contract is not profitable because it is very asymmetric, with very serious financial commitments for the country. We are trying to find ways to eliminate this asymmetry or at least reduce it to a minimum," said the Bulgarian Prime Minister.
