The mayor of Plovdiv, Kostadin Dimitrov, expressed optimism about the upcoming Bulgaria-Hungary match on November 16, stating that if safety conditions are met, a permit for the event will likely be issued on Monday.
Dimitrov explained, "Currently, we have received a second letter indicating that the equipment can be relocated, and there will be no safety concerns based on the implemented security measures. We will review this letter on Monday, and if it proves accurate, we will have the opportunity to approve the Bulgaria-Hungary match."
The mayor disclosed that circumstances have changed, and it's now probable that the match will proceed at the "Hristo Botev" stadium. "Yesterday, we initially rejected hosting the event based on a letter from the contractor, citing the impossibility of relocating equipment and potential risks to public safety on the field," Dimitrov clarified. However, he added that a subsequent letter from the builder, Iliyan Filipov, is likely to result in no objection to holding the match in Plovdiv.
As of now, the Bulgaria-Hungary match is still scheduled for November 16 at 19:00 at the "Hristo Botev" stadium in Plovdiv, with no audience permitted. /BGNES
