Peevski warns about a network of pro-Russian bots operating in Bulgaria

Signal to the interim Chief Prosecutor, the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the head of the State Agency for National Security (SANS), the chairman of the PG of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), Delyan Peevski, submitted an urgent referral to the authorities for a network of 400 robotic sites that conduct disinformation warfare and pro-Russian propaganda on the territory of Bulgaria.

The signal is related to published data on the results of studies of the Humanities and Social Studies Foundation (HSSF) by Prof. Dimitar Vatsov, Chairman of the Board of the HSSF, published on the website of the Foundation and commented on in the media about the "Mushroom Machine" of nearly 400 and produce 2,000 posts per day, further amplified through social media.

The State Agency for National Security, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Prosecutor's Office must answer the question of whether there is a network of pro-Russian bots operating on the territory of Bulgaria and who is behind this network. Is there evidence that Russia is conducting disinformation campaigns to confuse people through constantly changing narratives and versions of events, thereby endangering civil society and social peace?

"Entering the third year since the beginning of Russia's war against Ukraine and on the eve of the European elections, it is extremely important for the national security of Bulgaria and Europe to identify any forms of influence on Bulgarian citizens and to effectively counter any such encroachments, in the name of democracy and the protection of civil rights and freedoms," the MRF press release says. /BGNES
