The situation in Bulgaria remains very difficult this morning as well. Numerous outbreaks of fires are still smoldering and their igniting is a risk that hundreds of volunteers and firefighters are monitoring, reported BGNES correspondents in the country.
Duty teams stayed to monitor the situation all night with the fire near the Plovdiv village of Otets Paisievo.
The fire there is partially contained, but there are still smoldering areas. Helicopters were pouring water over the area until late last night. Dozens of houses burned down in the Otets Paisievo villa area, and more than 15 people were forcibly evacuated. The area affected by the fire is huge, and the reasons for its occurrence are in the process of being clarified. At this hour, volunteers are gathered to help put out the fire.
An extension of the partial state of emergency will be requested. Military personnel will also be involved in controlling the fire.
A strong wind rekindled the fire near the Simeonovgrad village of Konstantinovo last night. People from the last houses were evacuated. Cuts have been made to stop the fire. Many of the villagers took to the main road, fearing that the elements would enter their homes.
The fire that broke out in Stara Zagora on Monday has transferred the clearings made on the northern front that night.
It was necessary to bring in heavy machinery of the "Maritsa East" mine to make new clearings.
Firefighters have managed to control the spread of the fire and the situation is calm at the moment. There are several internal outbreaks that are being monitored by firefighters at this time.
No helicopters are expected on the ground today. The ambition of the firefighters is to be able to enter the fire to put it out before the daytime temperatures have risen and the wind has picked up.
"It all depends on the weather. If the weather lends us a hand and there is no strong wind, we hope that the fire will be extinguished today," said Commissioner Stoyan Kolev from the Regional Directorate of the Fire Department in Stara Zagora. | BGNES
