MPs released Rosen Zhelyazkov as chairman of the Bulgarian National Assembly

129 MPs voted "for" the resignation of Rosen Zhelyazkov as Speaker of the Bulgarian  National Assembly two days before the pre-election and Easter vacation of the 49th Parliament, reported BGNES.

103 people's representatives voted "against". The removal of the chairman is a fact at the request of We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (WCC-DB), "Vazrazhdane" political party, Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and "Ima Takuv Narod" (ITN) political party.

"Sometimes you have to be silent in order to be heard," said Zhelyazkov, who predicted the MPs' vote as a vote with a "constitutive effect."

"All of us in this room are people, but we are sent here to work for other people. We have our weaknesses, our passions, but as people's representatives we must be honourable and have humanity", Zhelyazkov also stated.

He called for humility to be at the fore. "Thank you for your trust and distrust. They are mirrors that create image and self-esteem. I thank you for both", said Zhelyazkov.

He apologized to the MPs for every action and inaction that affected them and then thanked the administration. "Dear colleagues, it was an honour for me to be the chairman of the National Assembly", added Rosen Zhelyazkov, and the deputy chairman of the National Assembly, Rositsa Kirilova, became emotional and could not contain her emotions. /BGNES
