Minister Iliev: I insist that BFU resolves the situation with the match between Bulgaria and Hungary

I insist that BFU resolves the situation with the match between Bulgaria and Hungary. This was called by the Minister of Youth and Sports Dimitar Iliev, who was a guest on the program "More of the Day" on BNT. He was adamant that the European qualifier of the national team with the Hungarians on November 16, which was moved to Plovdiv and in front of empty stands, should be held in front of fans.

"If you are a good ruler, there is no reason to impose such measures. The entire phenomenon of football rests on the inseparable bond between clubs and fans. I don't know why you ban fans from watching the national team live. BFU needs to find a solution to this case - we are having a meeting next Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. The Ministry works within a legal framework. We have invited the two interested parties – one is BFU, the other is the excluded clubs. Let's try to talk because right now it's not possible. If one of the parties does not accept this meeting, for me it would be irresponsible", Iliev commented on the upcoming meeting on Tuesday at the MYS, to which have been invited representatives of the BFU and the clubs excluded from the union.

The sports minister warned that any intervention by the state would be illegal in solving such problems. "I insist that people should not be restricted, stadiums cannot be closed - the stands are made for these supporters. Instead of wondering how to fill the stands, we're looking at how to close them. We insist on finding a solution to this issue. Both sides need to sit down and talk. Any intervention of the state would be illegal in solving such problems, it is done by the people who practice these sports. When there are such problems, BFU most likely has some fault. Those of us outside only suffer from our poor results. There is no Bulgarian who does not feel pain from these losses. Remember our golden years in the 90s. We can't go on like this. Stadiums should be filled, not closed", he added. /BGNES
