"We want to see Bulgaria and Romania in the Schengen area as soon as possible," European People's Party (EPP) President Manfred Weber said at the EPP congress which started today in the Romanian capital Bucharest.
According to Weber, there is an obvious challenge from Austria and therefore all parties in the country should be convinced that Sofia and Bucharest should become a full part of Schengen.
The president of the Romanian National Liberal Party, Nicolae Ciucă, expressed hope that the final document of the congress would include the goal of abolishing land borders for both countries. /BGNES
