Kiril Petkov defined the businessman Rumen Gaitanski - "Valka" (a nickname meaning "The Wolf" - editor's note) and the former director of BBR Stoyan Mavrodiev as "next in line criminals who disappeared from the country without a trace".
The umbrella that protected Rumen Gaitanski-Valka and Stoyan Mavrodiev in recent years has been lifted. They both fled the country.
This was stated to journalists in the National Assembly by the co-chairman of "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB) Kiril Petkov, BGNES reported.
BGNES reminds that since the morning in Sofia, an action of prosecutors, employees of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and policemen has been taking place in the properties of Rumen Gaitanski-Valka. The investigation is related to a loan granted to Gaitanski's company by the Bulgarian Development Bank.
"Even when I was the Minister of Economy, and before that my colleagues also said that the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) was being drained. One loan that Valka had taken for 145 million, now the state received only 3.5 million for it. In reality, we lost over 140 million of state money because Valka could easily steal it under the auspices of the BDB," Petkov said, adding that 140 million is 30 kindergartens.
Petkov asked why all this was happening and stressed: "What is Mr. Slavchev doing (Anton Slavchev is the acting chairman of the anti-corruption commission - note ed.) of ACC?" All these years what happened? For the last 3 years, we gave all the information - over one billion stolen from the BDB, we said it on the news, everywhere - Mr. Slavchev did absolutely nothing. Suddenly the umbrella rose and decided to become a club for Peevski and suddenly they disappeared. Another criminal who disappeared from the country without a trace".
Petkov recalled to journalists: "Evelin Banev - Brendo enters and leaves the country as he pleases, the Galevi brothers suddenly appear, one of them is deceased".
"We have brought in the Law on ACC, since October it has been standing in limbo. None of the other political parties wanted to support passing these laws, and suddenly the answer is clear - because some criminal entities can steal from the state money and then disappear with impunity, and the head of the ACC can stay where he is. That's why we also submitted the request for his resignation with over 80 signatures," Petkov said.
Bozhidar Bojanov noted for his part that the institutions that are supposed to protect the public resource are being used to settle accounts.
"We and colleagues from the PP have been calling for an investigation into this particular transaction for years. Both the prosecutor's office and the Anti-Corruption Commission have been doing nothing for years until the moment comes when someone's accounts need to be settled," he emphasized and added that this is why citizens do not trust law enforcement institutions.
According to him, "Apparently, the Anti-Corruption Commission is acting on the orders of Mr. Peevski."
"The institutions act on political orders, and therefore the citizens do not trust that whatever we do in the plenary hall, it is in the interest of the public interest," concluded Bojanov. | BGNES
