Kiril Petkov: Pre-election circuses in the National Assembly are absolutely unnecessary

The co-chairman of "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB) Kiril Petkov announced that the WCC-DB  parliamentary group will vote to reject the president's veto on the Energy Law, but this will happen after the local elections.

Petkov clarified that MPs from the WCC-DB group will not participate in the extraordinary session of the National Assembly, which will be held tomorrow. According to him, "the veto should be rejected, but from "We continue the change" will not participate in "political circus stunts" in the parliament". "This is a clear reform that needs to happen, it is part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, but on the other hand, on Friday, before the elections, when people all over Bulgaria have to make their most important decisions about who will be their mayor, it is absurd to throw dust in their eyes with national issues. Pre-election "political circus stunts" in the parliament are absolutely unnecessary and we will not be at this meeting. We can easily reject the veto immediately after the elections," he also said and added: "They have declared that this old loss does not apply and they have to pay their taxes. And we will insist on this, this will be collected. But this happens not through PR stands, but when the Minister of Finance informs them, and from now on you will not really try to hide new taxes. In the caretaker government, when they introduced the law, they left a loophole that "Lukoil" used. And that's why one of the things we're going to do now is close that loophole. And the loophole is very simple - whether to notify Brussels or not. There is no need for this notification, so this loophole cannot be used to avoid paying taxes.

Regarding the report requested by the coalition from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maria Gabriel, on what has been done for Bulgaria's entry into Schengen, Kiril Petkov said that he should "say every week what are the activities that advance us towards this task".

"Schengen was and is a top priority for Bulgaria, and we see that there must be a clear strategy on how to convince Austria and the Netherlands to support us. It will not happen by itself. So we are simply prioritizing and focusing the work of the Foreign Ministry with that we can't just stand aside and wait for someone to tell us "no". We have to act," emphasized Kiril Petkov, the co-chairman of "We continue the change".

BGNES reminds that the National Assembly announced an extraordinary session for October 27, at 12 noon. GERB-SDS and DPS insisted on its urgent convening. The meeting's agenda includes consideration of the presidential veto on changes to the Energy Law related to the liberalization of the electricity market, as well as amendments to the Law on Oil Reserves submitted by GERB and DPS, with which the two formations claim that they will eliminated the monopoly position of "Lukoil" on the fuel market in our country. /BGNES
