The parliamentary group of "There is such a people" political party (ITN) will return the third mandate for forming a cabinet unfulfilled today, BGNES reported.
ITN will return the mandate after holding meetings with various parliamentary groups and independent MPs in an attempt to seek support. After the failure of the mandate, there will be no regular government, and Bulgaria will hold parliamentary elections again - the seventh in a row.
How it got here:
After the return of the first mandate from GERB-UDF unfulfilled, as well as the second from we Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (WCC-DB) again unfulfilled, the folder was handed over by President Radev to ITN for an attempt to produce a government with the third mandate. ITN held a number of meetings with other parliamentary groups in search of support.
Last week, the first round of negotiations was held with the so-called people's representatives who are not members of groups, with the two groups from the now defunct "Velichie" party - the MPs around Nikolay Markov and the MPs around Ivelin Mihailov. The Movenebt for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) group with chairman Delyan Peevski refused to go to talks with ITN.
ITN invited the deputies to a conversation with the fact that the country has fallen into a deep political, economic and social crisis. Last but not least, the trust between citizens and their representatives has been broken. There is hardly a responsible deputy in the 50th National Assembly who does not realize that the country needs a stable government that can start solving the most urgent problems. This cannot be done without broad parliamentary support and a clear management agenda.
The only member of parliament from the disintegrated group of Velichie, Krasimira Katincharova, who spoke to ITN about the third mandate, said that the group around Ivelin Mihailov will not give support. After the meeting of ITN with the other deputies close to Nikolay Markov, it became clear that they support the third mandate and have found common views on a number of priorities.
In the name of the future of the country, we are ready to give our support, stated the chairman of the MRF, Jevdet Chakarov, after his meeting with ITN and the independent deputies from the MRF, supporting Chakarov. We said at the outset that we would make every effort to form a government, and short- and long-term goals and priorities are needed, but in the masses of our Euro-Atlantic orientation, every effort must be made to form a government in view of the severe political crisis in the country", emphasized Chakarov.
The PG of "Vazrazhdane" party refused to support ITN for the third term.
ITN also met with the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), and it became clear that they have many common points. The general understanding of a regular cabinet is leading. It is not normal to go to early parliamentary elections 6 times in 3 years, said the chairman of the PG of "BSP for Bulgaria" Borislav Gutsanov.
The meetings with WCC-DB and GERB-UDF also followed.
After their meeting with the WCC-DB, ITN did not receive an answer as to whether they would support a third-term government. Yordanov recalled that one of the things WCC-DB stated during their election campaign was that they wanted a government without Delyan Peevski. "Now we have that opportunity," he emphasized.
Bozhidar Bojanov explained for his part that WCC-DB came to the meeting to hear the priorities of ITN, to ask their questions about them, so that they could make sense of the situation. After the meeting, Toshko Yordanov from ITN stated: We do not have an answer from the PP, but even if they agree, we do not have 121 deputies.
And after the last meeting of ITN with GERB-UDF, it became clear that Boyko Borisov's party will not support the third mandate. This is how new parliamentary elections are reached after the mandate procedure has been exhausted. | BGNES
