A horrifying video shows the extent of the explosion in fireworks warehouses near the Bulgarian town of Elin Pelin, reported BGNES.
As BGNES Agency has already reported, an explosion rocked warehouses for fireworks this afternoon.
The spokeswoman for the Emergency Service, Katya Sungarska, said that the incident was reported at 6:35 p.m.
According to initial information, four people were injured in the explosions, two of them are in serious condition.
A man of visible age of around 40 years has third degree burns, a woman aged 30 also with third degree burns.
Two ambulances are at the scene but cannot access the warehouse as the fire department has cordoned off the perimeter.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs received the signal at 6:31 p.m. Police teams left immediately.
The acting interior minister Kalin Stoyanov and the chief secretary of the security department Dimitar Kangaldzhiev also arrived at the scene of the incident.
The police evacuated people near Elin Pelin, the traffic is blocked. Fireworks were only stored in the warehouses. Thick smoke covered the entire Sofia field. Due to the wind, which flows from west to east, there is a problem with flights from Sofia Airport.
According to initial information, three warehouses are on fire.
Around 7:40 p.m., a warehouse of a large food chain next to Elin Pelin also caught fire. There is no information whether the fire is related to the burning of the three warehouses for fireworks near the settlement.
And the early warning system BG-Alert sent the danger message to Elin Pelin an hour after the explosions in the fireworks warehouses.
The message calls for evacuation and warns citizens not to travel to the area. | BGNES
