Hakan Fidan: All land exports to Europe pass through Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a reliable neighbor and ally of Turkey. We will continue to strictly apply the Montreux Convention. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, a BGNES reporter reported.

Fidan is in Sofia at the invitation of his Bulgarian colleague - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Gabriel. After the bilateral meeting between the two first diplomats and the subsequent plenary talks of the delegations of Bulgaria and Turkey, Gabriel and Fidan gave a joint statement. It became clear that the talks touched on topical issues on the bilateral and international agenda.

I submitted a request to visit Turkey after March. We want to hold a meeting of the council for mutual cooperation, Fidan announced.

The foreign minister of Turkey emphasized that the exchange of goods between the two countries could reach 10 billion euros.

All our overland exports to Europe pass through Bulgaria. It is a major route for our citizens living in Europe. The Turkish population is another dimension of our relations, we attach great importance to the restoration of our monuments in Bulgaria. Security in the Black Sea is important to us, Minister Hakan Fidan also stated in his statement with Gabriel.

For his part, the host emphasized that Turkey is not only a friendly country of Bulgaria but also a strategic partner with which we share a common vision for security in the Balkans and the Black Sea region.

This meeting is a message to give a common response to regional and global challenges.

"A joint energy and climate group will be created," announced Maria Gabriel.

She emphasized that Bulgaria has always supported Turkey's European path.

"As allies in NATO, we will develop a strategic partnership - the anti-mine group and the protection of the airspace," the foreign minister also said. / BGNES
