With 100% processed Sectional Election Commission (SEC) protocols, the results of the runoff show that GERB candidate Konstantin Dimitrov wins the mayoral seat in Plovdiv. 28,545 voters voted for him, or the support for him is 54.15%.
The candidate of "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" (WCC-DB) Ivaylo Staribratov received the trust of 41.68% of Plovdiv residents or 28,511 votes.
"I do not support anyone" was chosen by 2,849 Plovdiv residents or 4.17% of those who voted.
In the "Central", "Southern", "Eastern" and "Thrace" regions, the candidates of GERB won, and the "Western" and "Northern" regions were won by WCC-DB.
On election night the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov arrived in Plovdiv to congratulate the new mayor of the "city under the hills" and to give his overview of the local government elections:
"We are the leading political force, and we deserve this victory. Since their voters are savvy, I now rely on Hristo Ivanov and Atanas Atanasov to weigh in on our arguments. After all, if their voters penalize them for being dishonest, then ours will too. The link between us is loose and we handle others in this way. If they can mate in the the countryside, they can do it at the national level, thus a hazy schedule with vague dates and times is pointless. Can we not have a single infrastructure project in the state?! Because they have "Thrace" highway, they have closed the northern "Hemus" highway project. The northern region of Bulgaria is one of the poorest in the country - why do they do this? The Budget, the Budget: What Are We Going to Do? Minister of Finance Vassilev plans to introduce new tax legislation tomorrow. There is not a single word of that which we have seen". Borisov also asked. /BGNES
