Head of State Rumen Radev will hand on Wednesday a mandate for forming a government to the candidate for prime minister, nominated by the largest parliamentary group in the 51st National Assembly - that of GERB - SDS, BGNES reports.
Radev will hand over the mandate more than two months after the early parliamentary elections on October 27. The political parties have had ample time to consult on forming a regular government.
The envelope with the first exploratory mandate will be taken by Rosen Zhelyazkov from GERB-SDS, who is also nominated as a candidate for prime minister. A majority including GERB, BSP and ITN is expected to be formed. Ahmed Dogan's formation - "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms - DPS" will not participate in the cabinet, parliamentary support is sought from them.
On 12 January, the BSP National Council approved the proposal of the party's Executive Bureau that the BSP-United Left coalition sign an Agreement on the Governance of the State, and they will have one deputy prime minister and four ministers.
Zhelyazkov clarified that the agreement between GERB-SDS, BSP-United Left and "There are such people" (ITN) is agreed and everything depends on whether they will have the necessary majority to elect a government with the first mandate. He confirmed that all the names in the draft cabinet have been specified.
The names of some of the future ministers of the coalition led by Boyko Borissov have already emerged.
Tomislav Donchev will be deputy prime minister and is also expected to take over the innovation ministry.
Daniel Mitov, who has headed foreign affairs in previous GERB cabinets, will head the interior ministry. The name of the former deputy foreign minister under Ekaterina Zaharieva - Georg Georgiev - is mentioned for the foreign ministry.
Lawyer and university lecturer Georgi Georgiev will head the Justice Ministry. Finance will be entrusted to Temenuzhka Petkova.
Krassimir Valchev returns to education. Two ministers from the current caretaker cabinet are expected to keep their posts. These are the agriculture minister Georgi Tahov and the defence minister Atanas Zapryanov.
The power formula is expected to be 11/4/4.
The names of the BSP candidates for ministers also became clear. These are all significant figures in the left and its current leadership. Deputy Prime Minister will be Atanas Zafirov. Borislav Gutsanov will be Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Manol Genov - of Environment and Water, Ivan Ivanov - of Regional Development and Public Works, and Ivan Peshev will take over the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Slavi Trifonov's party is expected to get the health ministry, where Silvi Kirilov's name is mentioned. Transport will be given to Grozdan Karadzhov, who used to be regional minister. The economy ministry will also go to ITN.
So far, GERB-CDS, BSP and ITN have gathered 107 MPs, against the required 121. If Dogan's formation, Democracy, Rights and Freedoms, supports the new cabinet, it will have 126 MPs. | BGNES
