Whatever elections, whatever internal political problems a country has, it should not solve them through others. We will do, and are doing, so that both Austrians and Europeans are safe at our borders. Neither Bulgaria nor Romania deserve to have living people standing on the bridges 24/7.
This was stated by GERB leader Boyko Borisov before the European People's Party (EPP) congress in Bucharest, BGNES reported.
The leader of GERB declared full support for Ursula von der Leyen for a second term as head of the European Commission.
"Now is the time, now we need a strong president of the EC, a strong president of the EP, today we have to vote for Ursula von der Leyen. Ursula, our delegation of GERB and UDF will give all their votes for you," said Borisov.
Before the congress of the EPP, Borisov presented the internal political situation in Bulgaria and the help that our country has provided for Ukraine in times of war.
"In recent months, although with a hesitant government, but with a very strong parliament, Bulgaria, which had outdated Soviet-type weapons, has given and helped Ukraine much more than the big and rich countries in Europe. With ammunition, with armored personnel carriers, and tanks and artillery. In this absolutely nasty war, Bulgaria did much more than the countries with great capabilities," said Borisov.
He highlighted diversification away from Russian gas, oil and nuclear fuel. "In the next few months, the construction of two nuclear power plants will begin. I could list many more, but today I can confidently say that we are doing well," said Boyko Borisov.
Later today, the GERB leader is expected to hold a meeting with the Chancellor of Austria, the main focus of which will be Schengen and security at the EU borders.
"Only 60 km from this hall is "Danube Most" 2, where there is a queue of trucks for kilometers," Borisov said and called on Austrian politicians to go themselves and see the anti-green environment that exists there. "The drivers of TIRs spend 24/7. This is not the 21st century. This is not the way Europe should work," Borisov also said and requested secure borders. /BGNES
