Today, the prosecutor's office presented additional information regarding the investigation into Gaitanski's loan from the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB).
Charges have been brought against the businessman Rumen Gaitanski-Valka and the former director of the Bulgarian Development Bank Stoyan Mavrodiev, after on Wednesday prosecutors and the anti-corruption commission conducted an action in connection with the investigation of a loan of nearly BGN 150 million granted to Gaitanski's company by the BDB. One of the representatives of Roadway Construction, who used the loan - Ivan Georgiev, has been detained, BGNES reported.
Today, the prosecutor's office presented additional information regarding the investigation.
As of today, the supervising prosecutor has coordinated decrees for the prosecution of three persons for embezzlement on a particularly large scale, representing a serious case, Deputy City Prosecutor Deyan Zahariev announced.
The law provides for 10 to 20 years of imprisonment and confiscation of part or all of the property.
Zahariev specified that evidence continues to be collected and to assess whether there is complicity of other officials from the Bulgarian Development Bank.
It is not excluded that as the investigation progresses, evidence will be gathered and a judgment will be made to bring other charges, namely for money laundering, said the deputy city prosecutor and specified:
Accused persons at the moment are the former executive director of BDB Stoyan Mavrodiev, Rumen Gaitanski and one representative of Roadway Construction, who was introduced to the company that used the loan. Gaitanski and Ivan Georgiev are charged as accomplices – one aiding and abetting. Mavrodiev is accused of embezzlement.
For her part, prosecutor Desislava Petrova called on the prosecutor's office not to be used for political purposes. |BGNES
