Former Bulgarian biathlete Krasi Anev has been placed in a medically induced coma

The condition of our former biathlete Krasimir Anev has been stabilized, but remains serious. This was announced by the Military Medical Academy, where the 36-year-old athlete is housed. According to Dir.bg, he was placed in a medically induced coma.

BGNES reminds that on November 1, Wednesday, around 19:00, Anev was found shot in the stomach near the Drenov Dol dam near Kyustendil. The former biathlete's weapon is legal. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case, the prosecutor's office has been notified.

At the moment, there is no information whether it is a suicide attempt. Anev's latest post on Facebook, however, suggests that he may have had personal issues. Anev's post contains the words of the writer Pavel Vezhinov - "Every betrayal begins with trust", commenting below "Absolute truth".

Krasimir Anev was the best biathlete in Bulgaria for many years and participated in several Winter Olympic Games, has a European title, and was also part of the World Cup, where he placed fourth. He gave up the sport in 2020 after many years of disputes with the management of the Bulgarian Biathlon Federation, due to which he trained separately from the national team. At the start of this year, he announced a return to the sport and recorded a second place in the pursuit at the State Championships in Belmeken at the end of March. /BGNES
