The best chef not only in the resort Golden Sands, but also on the entire Northern Black Sea coast is the Turk Ferhat Ulcar. He told BGNES his story of how he started working in our country more than 12 years ago.
Ferhat Ulcar, who is 35 years old today and works as a chef in one of the leading hotels of Golden Sands, arrived in Bulgaria on March 11, 2012 from Istanbul.
His first stop was the city of Balchik, where he worked in the local pubs. Subsequently, he began to cook for individuals on the occasion of their birthdays or name days, as well as at baptisms and parties.
"I never looked at my watch. I was working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's all in the name of the customer, and when they're happy, then I'm happy too. But things must be done with love and come from the heart," explains Ferhat.
In order to succeed, his working day starts at 5:00 a.m., and sometimes even earlier - at 4:00 a.m. "All my thoughts were concentrated on work. I had the opportunity to work with some of the best Bulgarian and foreign chefs, some of whom have a Michelin star. I have learned something new about gastronomy from everyone," he shares.
When he comes to Bulgaria, it is very difficult for him also because of the language barrier. "It was very difficult for me because I didn't know the language, and Bulgarian and Turkish are quite different from each other. I started from scratch, now I speak and write in Bulgarian. The words come out of my soul,” said Ferhat.
One of the most curious moments is at the very beginning, when a customer orders him a pork steak, and he doesn't even know what it is, the chef recalls with a smile.
In Bulgaria, it is very difficult for a Turk to become a chef, but with his hard work, dedication, open character and delicious dishes, Ferhat has won many friends and regular customers. "I live with the love of people," he added.
Ferhat is happily married to a Bulgarian woman and enjoys strong family support for everything he does. I BGNES
