The Bulgarian authorities will continue to consult with their European partners for a common vision regarding a possible nomination of the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, and that should be Kristalina Georgieva.
This is what the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) Dimitar Radev says in his capacity as the IMF Governor for Bulgaria.
"Kristalina Georgieva has earned the high respect and trust of IMF member countries during her years as the Fund's Managing Director. Under her leadership, the IMF supported the global economy with large-scale financing to nearly 100 member countries as they dealt with the COVID pandemic, the war in Ukraine and the cost-of-living crisis. Many of my fellow IMF managers would like to see her as the institution's managing director for a second term, a sentiment echoed by French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire during a recent meeting of G -20 in Sao Paulo", reports Radev.
The governor of the BNB announced that he had a telephone conversation with Kristalina Georgieva, in which they discussed the possibility of her being nominated for a second term in the IMF.
"And I asked her if she would like to continue in this position. I am pleased to say that she has confirmed that she would be honored to do so, provided she receives the support of IMF members. In this regard, the Bulgarian authorities will continue to consult with their European partners for a common vision regarding a possible nomination in accordance with the IMF's process for selecting the managing director of the institution", informs Dimitar Radev. /BGNES
