MP Delyan Peevski remains the sole chairman of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) parliamentary group, reported BGNES.
On Tuesday, the leader of the movement, Mustafa Karadayi, resigned. He is also resigning from the post of chairman of the parliamentary group in the National Assembly, and on the website of the Bulgrian parliament this morning Karadayi is present as an ordinary member.
In a statement late last night before the media, Peevski commented that Mustafa Karadayi made his decision alone. "This is his personal decision, it's nothing special," said Peevski, who from October 16 to November 7 was the co-chairman of the MRF parliamentary group, and as of today he is the sole chairman.
The Honorary Chairman of MRF, Ahmed Dogan, takes over the chairmanship of the party.
On the 17th we will have a Central Council where we will schedule our conference, Peevski specified on Tuesday. Karadayi's term expires at the end of the year.
BGNES reminds that at the VII National Congress of the MRF in 2009, Mustafa Karadayi was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the MRF and was then elected as the Secretary of the Central Committee of the MRF by the Central Council on the proposal of the party chairman Dr. Ahmed Dogan. As the secretary of the Central Committee of the MRF, Karadayi worked for two terms, until 2016.
On December 24, 2015, Mustafa Karadayi was elected co-chairman of the MRF, and four months later - on April 24, 2016 at the IX.national conference of the MRF was elected as chairman of the MRF. At the meeting held on December 12, 2020 - the National Conference of MRF, he was re-elected as chairman.
