Delyan Peevski and Jevdet Chakarov were elected co-chairmen of the Bulgarian party Movement for Rights and Freedoms. The party gathered today at the XI National Conference, at which a new leadership of the party was elected, BGNES reported.
The two co-presidents formula was proposed by the party's honorary chairman Ahmed Dogan earlier this year.
Thus, one co-chairman - Jevdet Chakarov, will be primarily responsible for the traditional areas of MRF, for good-neighborly relations with Turkey and with the liberal formations, because he was a member of the Bureau for nine consecutive terms and vice-president of the Liberal International for 14 years.
MRF was left without a chairman on November 7, 2023, when Mustafa Karadayi resigned from the post. Then Ahmed Dogan temporarily took over the operative leadership of the party./BGNES
