I should not become a bone of contention at the moment, so I am certainly withdrawing my approval to be Foreign Secretary. This was stated by the GERB-Union of Democratic Forces (GERB-UDF) MP Daniel Mitov, BGNES reported.
"In this situation, with a changed Constitution in which party balances are sought, it is clear that it is not a problem for party-colored people to occupy ministerial positions. However, I am disappointed with the position of We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (WCC-DB), instead of supporting the nomination of Mr. Glavchev, they entered Rumen Radev's logic. Now we can tell him: relax, Mr President, the WCC-DB are still with you," Daniel Mitov told the media in the parliament.
"The responsibility lies with President Radev. The foreign minister is his and he bears all the responsibility at the moment. Mr. Glavchev made a proposal and it was not accepted by the president. From now on, the responsibility lies with the president and the WCC-DB," he added Daniel Mitov.
His comment comes after the brief meeting between Rumen Radev and Dimitar Glavchev today at "Dondukov" 2 regarding the proposals for changes in the composition of the Council of Ministers.
On leaving the presidency building, Glavchev was brief: "I have not proposed anything, communication with the president continues. I have no news to announce. Until the president issues the decree, the old ministers are fulfilling their duties."
BGNES reminds us that the occasion for today's meeting between the president and acting prime minister is Glavchev's proposals for changes in the composition of the government, a week after his inauguration.
Glavchev suggested that the GERB-UDF parliamentary group MP and deputy chairman of the party, Daniel Mitov, take the post of foreign minister in place of the career diplomat and ambassador to Montenegro, Stefan Dimitrov.
The other replacement proposed by Glavchev is the Minister of Agriculture Kiril Vatev, who kept his post from the previous cabinet and in the official one. Glavchev proposes that the position be filled by Georgi Takhov, citing the continued tension and dissatisfaction in the agrarian sector as reasons. /BGNES
