Bulgarian President Rumen Radev vetoed the delivery of armoured vehicles to Ukraine

President Rumen Radev has sent back to the Parliament for further discussion the law on ratification of the agreement by which Bulgaria provides Ukraine with armoured transport equipment at no cost, BGNES reports.

In the reasons for the veto it is noted that the MPs were not sufficiently familiar with the specific parameters of the donation, which puts them in an inability to objectively assess whether the provided equipment is of obsolete necessity, the head of state's press secretariat said.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Rosen Zhelyazkov, said that the majority in the parliament will overcome the veto.

Zhelyazkov emphasized that "one of the goals of foreign policy is a just international order".

Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov indicated that the president's veto on helping Ukraine with armored transport equipment will be rejected.

Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Maria Gabriel said that she does not expect a change in Bulgaria's position on sending help to Ukraine.
