Bulgarian President Rumen Radev starts consultations with parties on forming a caretaker government tomorrow

Tomorrow at 17.00 I invite the parliamentary groups for consultations on forming a caretaker government. This is what the Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said, BGNES reported.

When the caretaker government is appointed, then I will immediately announce the date for the elections, Radev added.

The President said he was not involved in any conspiracies and coups. "If someone has made a calculation to remove Raya Nazaryan in order to put a convenient Speaker of Parliament, he has obviously forgotten that I have the last word in this process. And I will never, it should be clear, never appoint this person, because I would never legitimise such a despicable attitude towards the Bulgarian parliament," Radev emphasized.

According to him, professionalism can no longer be the guiding criterion in appointing the heads of important institutions such as the Court of Auditors, the Bulgarian National Bank /BNB/, the Ombudsman, from which a caretaker prime minister is nominated. "Every party will look for a comfortable and loyal person in whom it will see a possible future caretaker prime minister," the president said.

He explained that he is currently in talks with potential caretaker prime ministers, some of whom are out of the country. "I take every option very seriously," Radev added. I BGNES
