"I voted for the development of Sofia as a modern and European capital, which all Bulgarians want and have the right to be".
This was said by President Rumen Radev, who exercised his right to vote at the "McGahan" High School of Transport, reported BGNES.
The president stated that he had read the State Agency for National Security (SANS) report, after which the machine voting was canceled, and Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov described it as manipulative.
"The most important thing today is to vote en masse and to have confidence that every Bulgarian will receive proper respect for their vote", Radev stressed.
"Whether there is anything worrisome in the service's report will be determined by the relevant authorities", the president said.
According to him, there is an urgent need to restore confidence in the electoral process.
"I expect the competent authorities to carry out their investigation and announce who the players are and the motives for this act", Radev also said.
Asked if he would release the SANS report, the president stated that the service is directly subordinated to the Council of Ministers and to the Prime Minister personally.
"I respect the CEC's decision as an independent body, the court will decide whether it is correct", said the head of state.
Whether there is a need for new changes to the Electoral Code, the president reminded that every parliament is committed to changing the Electoral Code and added that he vetoed the latest changes to the law in December.
"Apparently there needs to be a change. But restoring trust is an effort by a number of institutions. Those who want to curtail my powers are inventing new ones today", commented Rumen Radev. /BGNES
