The European integration process is based on its own merits and does not allow for mediation between the EU and a candidate country.
This is stated in a position of the Foreign Ministry on the ongoing statements of representatives of the Republic of North Macedonia, questioning the principle of pacta sunt servanda. The Foreign Ministry recalls that Skopje declares as its main foreign policy priority its accession to the European family of values and rules.
"This implies strict adherence to the well-known commitments made. The European integration process is based on its own merits and does not allow for mediation between the EU and a candidate country. The only guarantee for success is the fulfilment of the established criteria and conditions," the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry's position reads. | BGNES
