Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Gabriel met with US Assistant Secretary of State James O'Brien within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos. The focus of the meeting was the strategic dialogue between Bulgaria and the USA and common approaches to global and regional problems.
"Support, coordination and a common response to challenges are the key words. I am glad that as allies and partners we are responding to regional and global challenges together," said Maria Gabriel.
The two also discussed the topics of Bulgaria's strategic position in NATO regarding security in the Black Sea region and the European perspective of the Western Balkans. Maria Gabriel also emphasized the Memorandum of Understanding between Bulgaria and the USA on countering foreign manipulation of information and its key importance in an environment of intensifying hybrid attacks and disinformation.
