Bulgarian football club "Levski"'s majority shareholder Nasko Sirakov: 'There is no way they are pressuring me and extorting me for shares'

"I think that with the figures already presented, I categorically answer this question. I have not refused a meeting with anyone on any topic that is useful for Levski. To some of the fans, I have to say that things are much easier to achieve with good than with bad. They harm Levski. I am willing to sit down and talk to any of them. No, we haven't had a conversation. I'm ready to talk on all subjects with anyone - if it's an insult, I have a thousand reasons to be offended, and in spite of everything I'm ready, as we invited them in June - we're ready to have conversations on any topic. But they can't pressure me and extort me for shares."

This is what the majority shareholder of Levski Nasko Sirakov answered a question of BGNES at today's joint press conference about the activity and results of the club in 2023, BGNES reported. The event was also attended by the executive director of the "blue" Daniel Borimirov and the member of the management board of the club Borislav Georgiev.

"I want to apologize to the entire blue community that we've seemed a bit boxed in over the last few months, which I also have, and I accept, a lot of fault for, but it's for reasons beyond my control. Many things require complete confidentiality. Every month, in one way or another, they will be informed about all the actions that are carried out by the club", began the majority owner of Levski.

Regarding a possible conversation with the club's former owner Vasil Bozhkov regarding the obligations to his companies, Sirakov replied: "Everything is possible (b.ed. - to talk to Mr. Bozhkov). Nasko Sirakov has not been a face to anyone all his life - I am only dependent on my family. How do you imagine me putting a face on someone? When it comes to Levski, I cannot be controlled by anyone. I don't want anyone to be offended. I haven't heard from Vasil Bozhkov for two years, he has a lot of problems. The moment I have to have a conversation, I'll have 100 even."

"Levski's participation in the European tournaments every year is a matter of life and death. In my conscious life, this is a mandatory goal, even more so now. You participate in European tournaments when you deserve it on the field. We'll do our best in the spring to look like we deserve Europe's participation. Manchester City became European champions and Gundogan left. Andi Kraev and Petris have contracts for another 6 months, of course they have to earn their place in Levski. If the coaching management decides, it will use them. In no way did it cross my mind to replace Nikolay Kostov. I stand 100% behind him, as I stood behind Stanimir Stoilov," he continued regarding a possible coaching change of Nikolay Kostov.

The majority shareholder of the "blue" also commented on the subscription of the "Levski na Levskarite" association, which aims to see how many of the fans want the shares of the capital city to be in the club treasury. "This is extremely damaging to Levski. I can't get inside these guys' heads. There, most of it is on a personal basis - between me and their manager, so I think they will argue that way. I don't see why their signing will bother me," Sirakov also said and called one of Levski's biggest supporters, Pepi Dimitrov, who was present at the press conference of "Levski na Levskarite" on Monday, "a complete liar."

Regarding the Blue's recent performance, the former Levski striker said: "For me, this drop in results was absolutely expected, not in the game. Because in 90% of the games we didn't win, we should have won. We've had our heads chopped off horribly in certain matches. There have been quite a few unforeseen injuries to leading footballers. We do not have the opportunity like Ludogorets and CSKA to have 25 almost equal players. Every single injury to a leading player or suspension because we've played the last month and a half with 4-5 people hanging with cards affects the pitch. I cannot be displeased with the desire of our players. In any case, there will be incoming transfers - perhaps we will not strengthen to the extent that our fans want. In any case, there will be new players - the posts of Kraev and Petris are a priority, we are also looking for others, and we have found somewhere," he revealed.

Sirakov was also asked about the extraordinary electoral congress of the BFS, which will be held on March 15 next year. "This date is sacred to me because Iliana, my wife, was born then. We have no intention of running a candidate on Levski's behalf, that may change in the coming weeks. The platform of each candidate will be extremely important to us. Until now, I have heard about Mitko Berbatov and his team, Mr. Krusharski was going to run, Dimitar Georgiev - Valentin Mihov, as far as I understand, is not definite yet. The truth is, we need to see what all the candidates have to offer. It is clear to all of us that there must be a major turnaround in the work of the BFS to get off the bottom. A bright ray - Ilian Iliev, what he has done in two weeks is great, it does not surprise me, because we see what he is doing in the Black Sea, good luck to him from the bottom of my heart", added the majority shareholder and emphasized the importance for the Georgi Stadium Asparuhov": "It worries us all. One of the main goals that Bobby mentioned is to get the stadium. This is short-term, the main goal of the club's management. We are holding talks with the institutions - whether it will be on a concession, whether for rent, the question is whether it will be for a long period of time". /BGNES
