Bulgarian Finance Minister Asen Vasilev: Tax checks being carried out in a number of companies are not related to the rejection of Austria from Schengen

Tax inspectors are conducting checks in "500-600-700 companies in the country", said the Bulgarian Finance Minister Asen Vasilev, denying media reports that the checks in a large Austrian food chain and an Austrian gas station were connected to the call of representatives of the Bulgarian business for a boycott of Austrian goods because of Vienna's decision on Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen area. "The inspections were carried out in accordance with the regulation for declaring goods with a high fiscal risk," Asen Vasilev said.
He emphasized that at the request of Vienna, special inspections of goods from and to Austria were carried out at the external borders, and the inspections themselves took more time, which caused some tension. /BGNES
