A large part of the topics and documents that will be considered and approved at the NATO meeting in Washington are strictly confidential.
There is no way we can explain documents with such a rift with unqualified information, this is what the Acting Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov explained to BGNES.
President Rumen Radev refused to lead our delegation to the NATO meeting due to disagreement with Bulgaria's position prepared by the Council of Ministers.
"So far, it is believed that the developed plans are successfully implemented and guarantee the security of the member states. There will be no additional deployment of NATO troops on the Eastern flank," Zapryanov assured.
The Minister of Defense defined President Radev's opinion not to attend the NATO meeting as "his personal". Other countries also have such an opinion. Each one sovereignly decides who will represent it. The MC decided that it would be the president, we would be represented with both the president and the prime minister. This was a personal respect for the president, but he has judged that there are topics that he does not fully share, so the delegation will be headed only by the prime minister", specified Zapryanov.
The Minister of Defense commented that it is the duty of the Council of Ministers to develop and adopt a national position. "The caretaker government accepted the national position on the condition that it will be represented in Washington, and if a regular government is formed, it will be given to him if he decides to make changes. We are not going to Washington unprepared, the position is being prepared for at least 10 months and the presidency is aware", assured Atanas Zapryanov.
The minister announced that so far we have not given anything to Ukraine that would lead to the dismantling of our capability. “We have not taken down a C-200 or a C-300. We have surplus equipment that we do not need either for peacetime or wartime, and we provide it," emphasized Zapryanov.
He assured that we have not provided Ukraine with surface-to-surface missiles or air-to-surface missiles. "Our weapons are from Soviet times," explained Atanas Zapryanov.
According to him, the meeting in Washington will be successful, security will be guaranteed, aid to Ukraine will be reaffirmed, and NATO will build a partnership in the Pacific region as well. | BGNES
